A Weekend in Tokyo: Lights, Ramen & Unexpected Calm

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo is a paradox—chaotic yet calm, ultra-modern yet deeply traditional. In just 48 hours, I tasted some of the best ramen of my life, stood motionless in the sea of Shibuya Crossing, and found quiet moments at Meiji Shrine’s forested sanctuary.

My first stop was Harajuku for a burst of color, street fashion, and crepes. Then came the teamLab Planets exhibit, where light and water merged into immersive art. Lunch was at Ichiran Ramen—solo booths, custom spice levels, and an unforgettable broth.

But it was the quieter side of Tokyo that truly moved me. In a hidden garden near Asakusa, I sat with matcha in hand and watched koi swim lazily under a bridge. Tokyo isn’t just a place; it’s a feeling. Fast, flavorful, but also deeply reflective.
